IT and Digital Systems Lead

About the role

The IT and Digital Systems Lead is a high‑energy, mission‑driven professional who will champion the strategic growth of StrongMinds Zambia’s technology landscape, ensuring systems are functional, secure and fully leveraged by staff and field users.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full IT asset lifecycle, from procurement to disposal, maintain licensing compliance and manage Google Workspace user permissions.
• Lead maintenance and upgrades of firewalls, network infrastructure and connectivity for office and field sites, targeting 99.9% uptime.
• Implement automated backup and disaster‑recovery procedures, act as chief data protection officer and maintain incident logs.
• Provide first‑line technical support to all users, from frontline staff to executive leadership, and produce monthly system‑health reports.
• Map local workflows, drive migration to new global data‑management systems, and ensure seamless integration of field realities.
• Oversee field data‑collection tools (KoboToolbox, CommCare), test AI prototypes and support digital innovation across the country.
• Support advanced data extraction, automate dashboards and enable data‑driven decision‑making for programs and M&E.

Required profile

• 5+ years of progressive IT experience, including software engineering, network infrastructure or complex data‑system oversight.
• Proven ability to provide inclusive user support to a diverse range of stakeholders, from field staff to senior leadership.
• Excellent strategic communication skills, able to translate technical concepts for remote‑first, global teams.

Required skills

• Google Workspace (G Suite) administration and related SaaS platforms (e.g., Slack, HRIS, payroll).
• Network security, firewall management and overall infrastructure maintenance.
• Backup/recovery automation and data‑protection compliance (ODPC).
• SQL for relational database management and data migration.
• Python for automation, API integration and AI prototype development.
• Experience with field data‑collection platforms such as KoboToolbox and CommCare.
