Occupational Hygienist Officer

About the role

The Occupational Hygienist Officer will limit health risks in the workplace by conducting detailed surveys, measuring hazards with specialist equipment, and presenting findings to clients. The role focuses on practical, cost‑effective solutions to improve occupational health and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct sampling, prepare samples for analysis and manage equipment registers.
• Investigate health and safety concerns across diverse occupational environments.
• Develop, review, update and implement OHS&E programs, policies and procedures.
• Provide technical support for incident and near‑miss reporting, investigations and follow‑up recommendations.
• Carry out regular inspections, audits and implement industrial hygiene programs.
• Prepare reports with remedial actions and ensure effective close‑out of IH actions.

Required profile

• Degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Health or related field.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience, preferably in the mining industry.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and incident/accident investigation.
• Analytical mindset, safety consciousness and high standards of hygiene.
