OSP Controller – Telecommunications Project Lead

About the role

The OSP Controller will lead end‑to‑end project lifecycles for major telecommunications deployments in Lusaka, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and budget constraints. This role combines technical design of fiber networks with strong project governance and stakeholder management.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and oversee design of FTTX/FTTH networks, including GPON, XGS‑PON, ODN and passive outside‑plant systems.
• Develop detailed technical documentation such as fiber route strategies, splice configurations, network schematics and Bill of Materials.
• Manage high‑value CapEx budgets and large‑scale infrastructure assets, focusing on cost‑efficiency.
• Lead cross‑functional teams and external partners, ensuring clear communication and conflict resolution.
• Apply advanced project management methodologies and tools to track progress, mitigate risks and ensure timely delivery.
• Provide strategic guidance on network evolution, leveraging knowledge of IP/MPLS, DWDM, SD‑WAN and core ISP infrastructure.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Project Management or related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
• Minimum 5 years of project management experience in telecom, ISP or large technology environments.
• Proven experience managing multi‑stakeholder telecommunications projects and large CapEx budgets.
• Excellent leadership, strategic thinking and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent English communication; French or local languages are a plus.

Required skills

• GPON, XGS‑PON, ODN, passive outside‑plant design.
• Fiber route planning, splice planning, network design and BOM creation.
• IP/MPLS, DWDM, SD‑WAN, core networking knowledge.
• Project management tools: Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint.
• Certifications such as PRINCE2, PMP, Agile, ITIL are strong advantages.
