Planning Coordinator – Mining Fleet

About the role

The Planning Coordinator – Mining Fleet leads the maintenance planning team to ensure effective planning processes for the mine’s fleet of equipment. This role coordinates with operations, reliability, warehouse and execution teams to minimise downtime and optimise asset reliability while complying with safety and OEM standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the planning team in developing and continuously improving maintenance plans and schedules for haul trucks, shovels, drills and auxiliary equipment.
• Ensure maintenance plans comply with OEM recommendations, safety regulations and the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP).
• Oversee preparation and distribution of the 12‑week plan, including preventive maintenance, change‑out components and corrective maintenance.
• Coordinate with cross‑functional teams to align maintenance activities and minimise equipment downtime.
• Monitor work‑order backlogs, prioritise tasks and follow up on progress.
• Validate and approve job plans, task lists, man‑hour estimates and material requirements.
• Lead planning meetings and facilitate communication between departments.
• Support shutdown planning and execution for major maintenance events.
• Track maintenance KPIs and lead initiatives to improve planning performance.
• Coach and mentor schedulers and planners on best practices.
• Lead development of zero‑based maintenance budgeting and forecast maintenance costs.
• Ensure compliance of work management in Kansanshi.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Grade twelve (12) school certificate or equivalent.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Welding Structural Specialist.
• Extensive knowledge of ERP systems, specifically Pronto.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and multi‑cultural environment.
• Self‑discipline in stressful situations and commitment to a positive safety culture.
