Plant Controller, Wet Plant - S3

About the role

The Plant Controller is responsible for safety, stability and operational optimisation of the wet processing plant during a shift. The role monitors process performance, coordinates activities across plant areas and provides real‑time production optimisation while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and operating standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain HSE standards and strict compliance within the process plant.
• Drive equipment, people and processes to maximise copper and gold production.
• Lead field processing supervisors and control‑room operators on shift.
• Oversee, monitor and control plant parameters to exceed KPI targets for throughput, recovery and product quality.
• Coordinate real‑time plant feed rate and ore quality with mining operations to optimise performance.
• Ensure equipment operates within defined strategies and procedures.
• Utilise the plant ‘expert’ control system and critical control loops for high utilisation.
• Maintain high utilisation of in‑line instrumentation (e.g., PSI, OSA) for performance optimisation.
• Set and maintain standards for alarm management, trend‑based operation, PLC bypass management and downtime reason integrity.
• Execute daily operating instructions and escalate deviations promptly.
• Assist in major plant shutdowns, maintenance activities and start‑ups, directing maintenance priorities.
• Coach shift personnel, especially supervisors, to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Required profile

• Shift leadership experience in a processing plant environment.
• Strong understanding of HSE regulations and compliance.
• Ability to coordinate with mining operations and maintenance teams.
• Experience in managing plant KPIs such as throughput, recovery and product quality.
