Procurement Officer

About the role

The company, a leading manufacturer in the packaging and plastics sector, is seeking a Procurement Officer to manage sourcing, purchasing, and supply of materials and services essential for production. The role ensures cost‑effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery while adhering to ethical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best price, quality, and delivery terms.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders in line with company policies.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date supplier database and monitor performance.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and finance to forecast procurement needs.
• Monitor stock levels and trigger replenishment to avoid production interruptions.
• Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and cost‑saving opportunities.
• Review contracts and procurement documentation for regulatory compliance.
• Assist in developing procurement strategies and cost‑control measures.
• Prepare procurement reports for management decision‑making.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management or related field.
• Full or Associate Membership with the Zambia Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (ZCIPS) – mandatory.
• 3–5 years of procurement experience, preferably in manufacturing, packaging, or plastics.
• Strong knowledge of procurement regulations, contracts, and vendor management.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
