Reliability Engineer – Instrumentation

About the role

The Reliability Engineer – Instrumentation will ensure the highest level of reliability and performance for control and instrumentation systems across the plant. You will work closely with maintenance, planning and execution teams to minimise downtime, improve process control and drive continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Adhere to company and vendor safety and quality standards during installation and maintenance activities.
• Configure and optimise field bus systems (Profibus, Ethernet) and fibre‑optic networks while limiting production disruption.
• Perform fault analysis and root‑cause investigations on field bus and fibre‑optic systems to eliminate recurring issues.
• Interpret network drawings of the processing plant and maintain accurate red‑line updates of system and network schematics.
• Participate actively in reliability improvement programmes and develop analysis methods for maintenance demand and component reliability.
• Review, improve and optimise preventive maintenance (PM) plans, including leading PMO projects for maintenance optimisation.
• Collaborate with planners and execution teams to refine work instructions and develop comprehensive standard jobs.
• Develop and maintain equipment‑strategy workflows, update strategies based on failure investigations, and monitor asset health to proactively address potential failures.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of control and instrumentation systems in an industrial plant environment.
• Experience with field bus technologies (Profibus, Ethernet) and fibre‑optic communication.
• Proven ability to conduct fault analysis, root‑cause analysis and reliability studies.
• Hands‑on experience in preventive maintenance optimisation and equipment‑strategy development.
• Ability to work with technical drawings and maintain accurate documentation.
