Research Officer (2 openings)

About the role

World Vision is seeking two Research Officers to support community‑based maternal health research across study villages. You will play a key role in data collection, implementation monitoring, community engagement, and project coordination, helping vulnerable families improve health outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in household mapping and recruit women of reproductive age (18‑45) for the study.
• Conduct baseline and follow‑up surveys on maternal health‑seeking behaviour, expenditures, and birth preparedness.
• Collect, verify, and enter data from antenatal care cards, maternity registers, and community health worker reports.
• Administer fidelity checklists to Savings Group leaders and CHW supervisors, documenting barriers and facilitators.
• Conduct qualitative interviews, focus groups, and community sensitisation activities.
• Support community agents and CHWs in delivering behavioural encouragement interventions.
• Track project timelines, deliverables, and budgets; prepare regular field updates and reports.
• Coordinate logistics for trainings, workshops, and stakeholder meetings.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Demography, Development Studies, Public Health, or a related field.
• Prior experience in community‑based research is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse community stakeholders.
• Sensitivity to cultural norms in rural settings.
• Flexibility to adapt to evolving project needs.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with data analysis software such as SPSS, STATA, R, Power BI, or NVivo (advantage).
• Proficiency in the Tonga language (advantage).
