Retail Security Officer

About the role

The Retail Security Officer ensures a safe and secure shopping environment by acting as a visible deterrent to theft and anti‑social behaviour. Working a 4‑on‑4‑off shift pattern, you will protect customers, staff and stock while delivering professional customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a visible security presence throughout the store.
• Conduct regular patrols of the premises to ensure safety.
• Monitor CCTV and other security equipment for suspicious activity.
• Perform searches of individuals in line with company policy.
• Respond promptly to alarms and incidents, escalating to management or law enforcement when required.
• Complete accurate incident and observation reports.
• Liaise with store management and staff to address security concerns.
• Provide courteous assistance to customers, including directions and queries.
• De‑escalate confrontational situations calmly and professionally.

Required profile

• Willingness to work the specified shift pattern (Monday‑Saturday 10:00‑22:00, Sunday 08:00‑19:00).
• Ability to act as a visible deterrent and respond to incidents quickly.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with customers, staff and law enforcement.
• Attention to detail for accurate reporting.
