Retail Store Manager – Building Materials

About the role

JM Supply Ltd is seeking an experienced Retail Store Manager to lead its building‑materials supermarket in Ndola. You will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, driving sales growth, and ensuring an excellent customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise day‑to‑day activities of the store, including merchandising, layout, and product displays.
• Maintain optimal stock levels and accurate inventory control.
• Negotiate with suppliers, manage product sourcing and price comparisons.
• Analyse sales performance and develop strategies to increase revenue.
• Recruit, train, and evaluate staff, setting performance targets.
• Handle customer inquiries and complaints to ensure high satisfaction.
• Implement safety procedures and ensure compliance with company policies.
• Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams for timely replenishment.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly operational reports.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Store Manager, Retail Manager, or Operations Manager in hardware, building‑materials, or tools retail.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, tools, hardware, and equipment.
• Proven leadership and people‑management abilities.
• Good financial and analytical skills, including budgeting and reporting.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of local languages is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with inventory management systems.
• Experience using POS software.
