Senior Materials Controller – Fixed‑Term (12 months)

About the role

Hatch is seeking a Senior Materials Controller for a 12‑month fixed‑term contract based in Solwezi, Zambia. The role will oversee both physical and virtual control of project materials to ensure construction activities are fully synchronized with engineering and procurement schedules. You will work within the Project Delivery Group supporting a mining‑related construction project.

Key responsibilities

• Review and manage the material control and warehousing systems used for project materials and equipment.
• Coordinate with the Procurement Materials Coordinator to ensure site‑arriving material identification (stock codes, tag numbers, spool marking, instrument identification) aligns with the engineering bill of materials and procurement systems.
• Provide and maintain inventory registers and equipment maintenance logs, interfacing with the Field Engineering Manager.
• Manage material storage and projection plans, warehouse manpower and equipment needs for daily receiving and issue operations.
• Implement receiving, storage, control and issue procedures, ensuring certification and traceability requirements are met.
• Facilitate over‑short‑damage (OS&D) resolution and verify inventories to maintain adequate stock levels.
• Identify surplus or obsolete material early and coordinate disposition in line with project procedures.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in material control or logistics within construction or mining projects.
• Strong understanding of engineering bills of materials, procurement processes and material identification requirements.
• Proven ability to manage warehouse operations, including manpower and equipment planning.
• Attention to detail for certification, traceability and OS&D handling.
