Service and Parts Engineer

About the role

The Service and Parts Engineer will support Hitachi Construction Machinery customers in Zambia by performing inspections, generating reports, and providing accurate quotations. The role aims to ensure high‑quality service delivery that drives repeat business and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate workflow and execution dates to the Service Manager.
• Conduct routine inspections on Hitachi machines, produce detailed reports and share findings with customers.
• Prepare and submit quotations based on inspection results.
• Perform routine servicing and repairs on all Hitachi subsidiary equipment.
• Compile parts lists tailored to customer needs and coordinate with the Parts Supervisor for availability and pricing.
• Develop call plans for Service Manager approval and execute scheduled servicing and repairs.
• Respond to unscheduled breakdowns, recommend solutions, and implement mandatory service bulletins.
• Generate photo and field information reports as required.
• Assist in workshop and warehouse duties, ensuring timely warranty claim processing.
• Conduct trend analysis on warranty claims and act as first‑level support for claim validation.

Required profile

• Full Grade 12 certificate.
• Diploma in Heavy Equipment Repair (HER) or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar heavy‑equipment service role.
• HI‑TEP Repair certification (advantageous).
• Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) and a valid manual driver’s licence.
