Site Engineer – Road & Bridge Projects

About the role

The Site Engineer will lead on‑site execution, coordination and technical supervision of major road and bridge works within the Road & Bridge Project Department. Acting as the bridge between design teams, contractors and field personnel, you will ensure construction aligns with designs, specifications, safety and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage engineering projects from initiation to completion, controlling schedules and ensuring timely progress.
• Oversee quality assurance, compliance with standards and implementation of safety management measures.
• Coordinate design tasks, resolve technical issues and manage Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements.
• Handle project handover and completion documentation, including work logs and performance summaries.
• Participate in weekly and monthly departmental meetings, contribute to minutes and share training insights.
• Organise paper and electronic archives, collect and upload work photos, videos and documents to cloud storage.
• Attend company and department training sessions, summarise content and maintain daily construction management logs.
• Assist the lead engineer with team‑building activities and perform additional tasks assigned by superiors.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, construction engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in bridge and road project engineering.
• Valid membership with the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ).
• Proficiency in operational procedures and workflows of road and bridge project testing management guidelines.
• Strong knowledge of technical specifications for road and bridge engineering adopted in China and Zambia.
• Preliminary understanding of FIDIC contract clauses and ability to apply them in practice.
