Supervisor, Instrumentation

About the role

The Instrumentation Supervisor will lead the Instrument Control team at First Quantum, ensuring safe and efficient installation, maintenance and replacement of instrument systems in a mining plant environment. The role focuses on up‑holding the "First Quantum Way" by promoting safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide guidance and leadership to the instrumentation team, reinforcing safety and company culture.
• Install new instrument control systems and replace redundant ones according to safety and quality specifications.
• Maintain up‑to‑date instrument drawings and adhere to preventive maintenance schedules.
• Minimise production impact while maintaining instrument equipment.
• Compile detailed activity, cost and labour reports and report incidents promptly.
• Manage stock levels of critical instrument equipment and create safety‑compliant tool inventories.
• Oversee the condition and usage of instrument test equipment and ensure proper training for all staff.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Instrumentation Superintendent.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Instrumentation or related industrial software systems.
• Siemens STEP 7 certification and Citect SCADA knowledge.
• Valid low‑voltage driver’s licence.
• All academic qualifications must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as an Industrial Software Engineer in a mining plant.

Required skills

• Siemens 300 & 400 PLC programming.
• Siemens H‑PLC programming.
• WinCC (Flex) operation.
• Simocode motor protection relays.
• Variable speed drive control (ABB & Danfoss).
• AVEVA instrumentation software.
