Technical Project Manager – Telecom Deployments (Lusaka)

About the role

We are seeking a Technical Project Manager to lead end‑to‑end telecom deployment projects in Lusaka, ensuring they align with organisational goals and timelines. The role involves designing and optimising FTTX/FTTH networks and managing large‑scale infrastructure roll‑outs.

Key responsibilities

• Direct full project lifecycles for major telecommunications deployments.
• Design and optimise GPON, XGS‑PON, ODN and passive outside‑plant components for FTTX/FTTH networks.
• Develop technical documentation such as fibre route strategies, splice configurations, network schematics and Bill of Materials.
• Oversee large‑scale infrastructure roll‑outs, managing capital budgets and resource allocation.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams and external partners to achieve project objectives.
• Utilise project management software to track progress, manage risks and report KPIs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Project Management or related field (Master’s degree advantageous).
• Minimum 5 years of project management experience, preferably within a telecom operator, ISP or technology company.
• Proven experience managing multi‑stakeholder telecom or technology projects and large CapEx budgets.
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking and stakeholder management abilities.
• Fluent English communication skills; French or local languages a plus.

Required skills

• GPON, XGS‑PON, ODN, passive outside‑plant network design.
• Fiber route planning, splice planning, network schematics and Bill of Materials preparation.
• IP/MPLS, DWDM, SD‑WAN, core networking, OSP and ISP infrastructure knowledge.
• Project management tools: Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint.
• Project management certifications such as PRINCE2, PMP, Agile, ITIL (preferred).
