Workshop Manager

About the role

The Workshop Manager will lead the Transport workshop at Dangote Industries Limited, ensuring equipment availability, high‑quality repairs, and compliance with HSEQ standards. Reporting to senior management, the role oversees a team of mechanics, coordinates preventive maintenance, and manages SAP inputs.

Key responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on Sino and Howo trucks and light vehicles.
• Lead a team of at least 50 mechanics and helpers, providing on‑the‑job training, coaching and performance appraisals.
• Plan, organize and record preventive maintenance (PMS) tasks in the SAP PM module.
• Forecast and order spare parts for specific jobs and stock replenishment.
• Supervise all workshop activities, ensure warranty compliance, and conduct final test‑drives before vehicle release.
• Implement and monitor HSEQ standards within the workshop.
• Assist in recruitment, technical testing of applicants, and approval of timesheets.

Required profile

• Full Grade 12 with credits in English and Mathematics.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum 15 years of experience leading a multicultural workshop team.
• Professional Engineer registration (EIZ and ERB) and licensed mechanic qualifications.
• Previous experience with Sino trucks is an advantage.
