Artisan Rigger

About the role

First Quantum is seeking an Artisan Rigger to support workshop, PCR rigging and maintenance activities at the Sentinel mine site. The role focuses on safe and efficient material handling, equipment maintenance and continuous improvement in a challenging mining environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist crane operators in lifting and moving loads without damage.
• Manage material movement during lifting operations and ensure proper load handling.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and statutory inspections on rigging gear, mobile/overhead cranes, winch ropes and related equipment.
• Support load testing and compliance checks for cranes and lifting equipment.
• Estimate load tonnages to select appropriately rated crane capacities.
• Provide training and development for direct reports, especially Zambian employees.
• Carry out any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Commitment to SHE standards and use of safety equipment.
• Ability to assess loads and select suitable rigging equipment.
• Strong knowledge of rigging tools and crane set‑up/assembly.
• Solid mathematics skills for load calculations.
• Physical capability to stand, bend, lift 50 lb regularly and work at heights.
• Good English communication skills.
