Commercial Director

About the role

The Zambia Daily Mail Limited is seeking a senior Commercial Director to lead its commercial functions. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the role is responsible for driving business growth, profitability, and ensuring timely production and market availability of the newspaper and related services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement sales, marketing, advertising, and courier strategies to retain existing clients and attract new business.
• Oversee newspaper and commercial printing, distribution, and marketing activities, ensuring quality and timeliness.
• Source new clients and build networks through consultative meetings with marketing agents.
• Manage advertising services, negotiate rates, and coordinate campaigns across various industries.
• Conduct research and analyse sales statistics to shape policy and support dealers.
• Control departmental expenditures to align with budgetary requirements.
• Lead community‑based social responsibility programmes using defined selection criteria.
• Uphold ethical standards and corporate governance as a company director.

Required profile

• Zambian nationality and suitably qualified for senior management.
• Proven experience in commercial leadership within media, publishing, or related sectors.
• Strong understanding of sales, marketing, advertising, and printing operations.
• Ability to develop strategic plans and manage large‑scale budgets.
