Operations Manager – Fuel Business

About the role

The Operations Manager will lead day‑to‑day fuel business activities in Lusaka, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient delivery of petroleum products. This hands‑on role requires strong technical knowledge of fuel operations, bowser management and loss control.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee end‑to‑end fuel operations, including safe tanker loading and off‑loading at depots and customer sites.
• Manage mobile fuel dispensing units (bowsers), schedule maintenance and supervise installation of meters, pumps and pipelines.
• Coordinate logistics by tracking driver routes, confirming delivery schedules and maintaining customer relationships.
• Implement loss‑control measures to minimise spillage, pilferage and temperature variance while ensuring compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
• Supervise operational staff and third‑party vendors, and produce daily, weekly and monthly operational reports on deliveries, losses and equipment status.

Required profile

• 4–6 years of hands‑on experience in fuel or petroleum operations, including tanker loading/off‑loading and bowser management.
• Diploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a related field (preferred).
• Proven ability to work under pressure, solve problems quickly and be available for urgent matters outside standard hours.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Familiarity with ERP systems such as Odoo or Tally for operational tracking.
• Technical knowledge of fuel dispensing meters, pumps and pipeline systems.
• Experience with bowser (mobile fuel unit) scheduling and maintenance.
