Project Coordinator

About the role

The Project Coordinator will support the Sustainable Fish Value Chains for Landlocked Developing Countries (SVC4LLDCs) project in Zambia. Reporting to the FAO Representative and the assistant FAOR – Programmes, the role links FAO headquarters with local partners to advance value‑chain development and sustainable aquatic food systems.

Key responsibilities

• Technically support implementation of the project workplan and ensure delivery of deliverables.
• Coordinate planning, design and execution of value‑chain activities, including budgeting and annual work‑plan preparation.
• Identify, recruit, manage and supervise project partners and maintain strong linkages with beneficiaries.
• Monitor and evaluate project activities, prepare technical reports, and provide regular updates to the Project Management Unit.
• Lead the design and operation of a multi‑stakeholder platform, fostering partnerships and knowledge sharing.
• Oversee the communication strategy and M&E framework at country level, selecting indicators and reporting progress.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in Fisheries and Aquaculture, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Project Management, Natural Resource Management or a related field.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in value‑chain development for fisheries, aquaculture, agriculture, forestry or natural resources.
• Working knowledge (level C) of English and legal right to work in Zambia (national or resident with permit).
