Research Officer – Community Health (2 positions)

About the role
We are seeking two dedicated Research Officers to support a community‑based maternal health study. You will work directly with households, health workers and local savings groups to collect high‑quality data and monitor the implementation of behavioural interventions.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with household mapping and recruit women of reproductive age (18‑45) in study villages.
- Conduct baseline and follow‑up surveys on health‑seeking behaviour, expenditures and birth preparedness.
- Collect, verify and enter data from antenatal cards, maternity registers and community health worker reports.
- Administer fidelity checklists to savings‑group leaders and CHW supervisors, documenting barriers and facilitators.
- Conduct qualitative interviews and focus‑group discussions with key informants and community stakeholders.
- Support community agents and CHWs in delivering behavioural encouragement interventions.
- Track project timelines, deliverables and budgets, and prepare regular field reports.
Required profile
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Demography, Development Studies, Public Health or a related field.
- Prior experience in community‑based research is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse community stakeholders.
- Sensitivity to cultural norms in rural settings.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience using data‑analysis software such as SPSS, STATA, R, Power BI or NVivo (optional but advantageous).
