Communication Officer (NO-2) – Temporary (364 days)

About the role

The Communication Officer (NO‑2) will support UNICEF Zambia’s advocacy and communications agenda, helping to raise awareness of children’s and women’s issues and to build public and political support for the organization’s programmes. This temporary position lasts 364 days and is based in Lusaka.

Key responsibilities

• Produce communication products and materials for campaigns, events and publications.
• Maintain and develop media relations with press, broadcast and digital outlets.
• Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the communication work plan.
• Update and manage contact lists of individuals, groups and partner organisations.
• Organise public support and visibility for special events and activities that promote country programme goals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience in communication, print/broadcast media or digital media.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language or a local language is an asset.
• Experience in field work, emergency communications, video production and working in development or humanitarian contexts.
