Communication Officer (Temporary) – Lusaka, Zambia

About the role

UNICEF Zambia is seeking a Communication Officer to support advocacy and communications, raise children’s and women’s issues, and strengthen public and political will for UNICEF’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Produce communication products and materials for advocacy campaigns.
• Maintain media relations and liaise with groups and organizations essential to advocacy objectives.
• Update and manage contact lists of individuals, groups, and organizations.
• Organise and generate public support for special events and activities promoting country programme goals.
• Monitor and evaluate the section’s work‑plan activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in communication, print/broadcast media or interactive digital media.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language or a local language is an asset.
• Field‑work experience, emergency communications experience, and video production experience are desirable.
• Experience in development, fragile or humanitarian contexts at country level.
