About the role

The company is seeking an experienced HR Manager with a strong focus on employee relations to lead initiatives across a large manufacturing facility in Lusaka. The role involves managing disciplinary actions, dispute resolution, and ensuring compliance with Zambian labour legislation.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead employee relations initiatives, including disciplinary actions, workplace disputes, grievances, and conflict resolution.
  • Prepare and issue warning letters, disciplinary documents, and performance improvement plans in line with company policies and Zambian labour laws.
  • Represent the company in labour office matters and coordinate with authorities when cases escalate.
  • Maintain impartiality while managing sensitive employee issues and enforce policies consistently.
  • Oversee recruitment processes from job posting to onboarding, develop job descriptions and competency frameworks, and partner with line managers on talent gaps and retention.
  • Support payroll and benefits administration, ensuring compliance with local labour laws and company policies.
  • Review and recommend improvements to compensation structures and HR programmes.
  • Ensure all HR practices comply with Zambian labour laws and internal policies; conduct training for managers and employees.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, case documentation and HR reports; analyse HR trends to recommend preventive measures.
  • Identify HR risks proactively and provide professional recommendations to senior management.

Required profile

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 + years of HR experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial role focused on employee relations.
  • Experience in large‑scale manufacturing operations (500 + employees), preferably similar to Trade Kings or Big Trade.
  • Strong knowledge of Zambian labour laws, HR policies, disciplinary procedures and dispute‑resolution processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, investigation and problem‑solving abilities.
