Safety Officer

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Safety Officer to implement and monitor safety plans at our cement plant. The role ensures compliance with safety policies, conducts inspections, and supports accident investigations to maintain a safe working environment.

Key responsibilities

• Implement approved safety plans and programs in the plant and monitor employee compliance.
• Support planning and promotion of safety programs, conducting periodic assessments to identify deficiencies.
• Assist in conducting safety drills according to the approved schedule.
• Evaluate hazardous conditions and recommend engineering, administrative controls, or personal protective equipment.
• Perform or assist with accident investigations and communicate recommendations promptly.
• Support execution of corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
• Provide information to Compensation Administrators for timely processing of injury benefits.
• Maintain accurate records of safety activities and accidents, developing reports to identify trends.
• Conduct periodic plant inspections to assist managers in occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Collect, analyse, and maintain data essential for effective safety programs.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Safety, Health and Environment.
• Membership of a relevant safety institute.
• Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with employees, officials, external organisations, and government agencies.
