Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

About the role

The Chief Technology Officer will lead E‑MARK’s technology vision and execution from its Lusaka office. Reporting to the executive team, the CTO will shape the IT and product strategy to deliver scalable, secure and innovative ICT solutions that align with business goals.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the overall technology and product strategy, including road‑maps and architectural standards.
• Oversee software development and product engineering teams, ensuring best practices for coding, testing, deployment and maintenance.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and drive adoption of cloud, APIs and integration patterns.
• Manage technology road‑maps, prioritize projects and collaborate with business stakeholders.
• Mentor and develop technical talent, and manage vendor and partner relationships.
• Contribute to budgeting, risk management and technology governance.

Required profile

• Strong background in software and product development, building customer‑facing ICT solutions.
• Proven expertise in IT strategy, architecture and setting technology road‑maps.
• Extensive senior leadership experience, ideally as a CTO or equivalent in a technology‑driven organization.
• Deep understanding of cloud technologies, modern development frameworks, APIs, integration patterns, cybersecurity and data‑privacy practices.
• Ability to translate business objectives into technical solutions and communicate with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications a plus.
