Clearing Officer

About the role

The Clearing Officer is responsible for monitoring and managing import clearance processes at border posts across Tanzania, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. The role involves close coordination with border clearing agents and customs authorities to ensure timely clearance and compliance with trade regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and track import clearance turnaround time at border posts and maintain up‑to‑date clearance records.
• Liaise with and supervise appointed border clearing agents, keeping detailed contact information for daily coordination.
• Maintain regular working relations with customs authorities, stay updated on border trade policies and monitor industry and competitor practices.
• Work on‑site at border areas for 2–3 weeks per month, covering Tanzania, Mozambique and Zimbabwe borders.

Required profile

• Frequent travel to border posts as required.
• Proficient in basic computer skills and standard office software.
• Minimum 2 years experience in clearing and forwarding or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
