Community Liaison Intern

About the role

The Community Liaison Intern will act as a bridge between Lumwana Mining Company and surrounding communities, helping to build trust and foster positive relationships. Working under the Senior Community Relations Officer, the intern will support a range of outreach and engagement activities.

Key responsibilities

• Support planning, promotion and coordination of community meetings, events and outreach programmes.
• Distribute approved informational materials and communicate the company’s mission and initiatives.
• Assist in coordinating stakeholder engagement activities and maintain professional contact with community members.
• Collect, record and analyse community feedback, grievances and sentiment.
• Identify community groups and help develop partnerships that empower locals.
• Support implementation and monitoring of community development initiatives.
• Assist with surveys, consultations, awareness campaigns and other engagement activities.
• Participate in site visits, field assessments and outreach activities as required.
• Maintain community engagement calendars and track meetings, events and commitments.
• Promote respectful, transparent and culturally appropriate engagement.

Required profile

• Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Work, Adult Education or a related discipline.
• Previous exposure to community engagement, social development or stakeholder relations (advantage).
• Valid driver’s licence and at least two years driving experience (advantage).
• Excellent verbal and written communication and strong organisational abilities.
