Health and Nutrition Coordinator

About the role

The Health and Nutrition Coordinator will lead the design, implementation and monitoring of health and nutrition programmes in Zambia, ensuring they align with Action Against Hunger’s country and sector strategies. Reporting to senior management, the coordinator provides technical guidance, supports staff, and represents the programme with partners and donors.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver high‑quality health and nutrition projects, including programme planning, proposal writing and fundraising support.
• Ensure compliance with Action Against Hunger and donor guidelines, standards and best practices.
• Conduct regular field visits, analyse the humanitarian health and nutrition context and adapt programmes accordingly.
• Provide technical supervision and capacity‑building for nutrition staff and coordinate with logistics, HR, finance and programme teams.
• Represent the organisation externally with government ministries, development partners, NGOs, research institutions and the private sector.
• Support recruitment, procurement and other operational functions as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing health and nutrition programmes in humanitarian or development settings.
• Strong knowledge of donor requirements and ability to ensure programme compliance.
• Excellent analytical skills to assess country health and nutrition contexts.
• Demonstrated leadership and capacity‑building abilities.
• Effective communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
