IT Systems Developer

About the role

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is looking for an experienced IT Systems Developer to join the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) Programme in Lusaka, Zambia. The role will support the development, enhancement, and technical maintenance of the ASYCUDA system for Zambian customs operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and programme specific modules and features for ASYCUDA in Zambia.
• Provide IT support for ASYCUDA to the Zambian Customs IT Team as required.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation for the ASYCUDA system.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field (or Bachelor’s degree with 7 additional years of experience).
• Fluent English.

Required skills

• Designing and developing RESTful APIs for micro‑services architecture using Java, Quarkus and Spring Boot.
• Front‑end development with JavaScript.
• Containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes.
• CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI, Jenkins and monitoring with Splunk.
• Agile development methodology and Agile project‑management tools.
