Lead Technical Advisor

About the role

The Lead Technical Advisor will provide expert guidance for the FACE‑NDC project, a joint initiative led by FAO to support Zambia’s climate‑action commitments. Working within FAO’s Subregional Office for Southern Africa, the role will help design and implement climate‑focused education, training and outreach activities across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Offer technical advice on greenhouse‑gas mitigation, sustainable agriculture, forestry and natural‑resource management.
• Support the development and delivery of curricula, teacher training and community‑based learning under the project’s four outputs.
• Coordinate with partners including UNITAR, UNESCO, national universities and government ministries to ensure effective implementation of the nine work packages.
• Monitor and evaluate behavioural‑science evidence, formal and non‑formal education activities, and professional skills development.
• Contribute to project reporting and the achievement of IKI impact targets on emissions reduction, land conservation and carbon stock enhancement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in climate‑action programmes, sustainable agriculture or natural‑resource management.
• Background in capacity‑building, education or training for climate‑related initiatives.
• Ability to work with multi‑stakeholder consortia and government agencies.
