Metallurgist, Nickel Processing

About the role

The Metallurgist will provide metallurgical guidance and support for the nickel processing plant, ensuring daily KPI reporting and analysis to drive performance improvements. Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, the role focuses on troubleshooting, project execution, and continuous improvement of plant operations.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, analyse and resolve emergent metallurgical problems and opportunities.
• Lead planning and execution of metallurgical projects to optimise plant performance.
• Maintain HSE standards and ensure strict compliance within the nickel plant.
• Deliver timely and accurate sampling, analysis and reporting.
• Develop and maintain operating methods and SOPs for metallurgical and process engineering tasks.
• Provide technical support to operations to meet production targets.
• Monitor short‑term metallurgical events, optimise reagent addition rates and control consumption.
• Facilitate data acquisition, warehousing, accessibility and analytics.
• Identify and implement continuous‑improvement initiatives and cost‑reduction measures.

Required profile

• 1‑2 years of experience in mineral processing (nickel flotation and talc removal advantageous).
• Strong literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Basic health and safety knowledge, including job safety analysis.
• Detail‑oriented, dependable, self‑motivated and able to work under pressure.
• Willingness to work shifts and adapt to various work areas.
