Mine Geologist

About the role

The Mine Geologist will lead core operational and technical functions within the mine geology team, ensuring high‑quality geological data supports accurate resource, ore‑control and model development. The role works closely with mining, processing and engineering teams to optimise material delivery and processing.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a safety‑first role model and enforce safety standards on‑site.
• Conduct ore delineation, control dilution, ore loss and misclassification.
• Plan, execute and supervise reverse‑circulation grade‑control sampling to QA/QC standards.
• Perform in‑pit mapping and 3‑D geological interpretation.
• Integrate all geological and sampling data to produce 3‑D geological, structural, geochemical and geo‑metallurgical models.
• Support material reconciliation, tracking and reporting.
• Liaise continuously with mining operations, engineering, processing, geotechnical and hydro‑geological teams.
• Lead the mine geology reporting support team, ensuring quality, standards and efficiency.
• Maintain secure databases and assist in preparing geological and operational reports.
• Assist the Senior Mine Geologist with planning and prioritisation of activities.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of mining experience, primarily in production environments.
• Operational experience in open‑pit copper or nickel deposits is advantageous.
• Hands‑on experience with field ore control, diamond drilling, reverse‑circulation drilling and pit mapping.
• Strong analytical mindset, high integrity and ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
• Willingness to work occasional shifts and collaborate with multicultural teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Datamine software.
• Experience using OreController.
• Familiarity with Datashed.
• Knowledge of Snowden supervisor or similar platforms.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, including report writing.
• Strong data‑analysis capabilities.
