National Project Coordinator (NPC)

About the role

The National Project Coordinator (NPC) will support FAO's Sustainable Fish Value Chains for Landlocked Developing Countries project in Zambia. Reporting to the FAO Representative and the Assistant FAOR – Programmes, the NPC will help implement the third priority of the Zambia Country Programming Framework: Inclusive Green Growth and Environmental Sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate national activities of the SVC4LLDCs project, ensuring alignment with FAO strategic objectives.
• Provide technical assistance to promote sustainable aquatic value chains, focusing on gender‑responsive productivity.
• Prepare and submit regular reports to FAO HQ and the project technical officer.
• Monitor project implementation, track milestones, and support corrective actions.
• Facilitate collaboration between FAO field officers, international partners, and local stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development of policy recommendations under the Inclusive Green Growth priority.

Required profile

• Experience in project coordination within international development, preferably with FAO or similar UN agencies.
• Knowledge of sustainable fish value chains, gender‑responsive approaches, and environmental sustainability.
• Strong reporting, monitoring and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
