Reliability Engineer – Instrumentation

About the role

First Quantum is looking for a Reliability Engineer – Instrumentation to ensure the reliability and efficiency of control and instrumentation systems across its plant operations. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, fault analysis and continuous improvement of field bus and fibre‑optic networks.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute preventive maintenance programmes for control & instrumentation systems.
• Configure and maintain field bus networks (Profibus, Ethernet) and fibre‑optic systems with minimal disruption to production.
• Perform fault analysis and root‑cause investigations to eliminate recurring issues.
• Maintain and update network and instrumentation drawings, including red‑line changes.
• Participate in reliability improvement programmes and develop equipment strategies.
• Analyse performance of preventive maintenance tasks and optimise work instructions.
• Support planners and execution teams, coaching them on standard job development.
• Monitor asset health, assess criticality and take proactive actions to prevent failures.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of plant network drawings related to control and instrumentation.
• Experience in fault finding on Profibus/Ethernet and fibre‑optic systems.
• Ability to conduct reliability analyses and develop maintenance demand models.
• Proactive attitude towards continuous improvement and equipment strategy development.
