Retail Security Officer

About the role

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a Retail Security Officer to protect customers, staff and stock in a busy retail environment. Working varied shifts, you will act as a visible deterrent to theft and anti‑social behaviour while delivering a professional level of customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a visible security presence throughout the store, conducting regular patrols.
• Monitor CCTV and other security equipment to detect suspicious activity.
• Respond promptly to alarms, incidents and emergencies, escalating to management or law enforcement when required.
• Carry out searches of individuals in line with company policy.
• Complete accurate incident and observation reports.
• Liaise with store management and staff to address security concerns.
• Provide assistance and directions to customers, de‑escalating confrontational situations.

Required profile

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Professional demeanor with excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to follow site‑specific procedures, company policies and legal requirements.
