Safety Officer – Warehouse

About the role

The Safety Officer will lead health, safety and environmental (HSE) initiatives within a busy warehouse environment. You will ensure compliance with company policies, local legislation and industry standards while fostering a proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor warehouse operations to verify safe work practices and conduct routine inspections and audits.
• Develop and maintain risk registers, conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and risk assessments for all warehouse activities.
• Investigate accidents, near‑misses and environmental incidents, determine root causes and drive corrective actions.
• Oversee forklift and pedestrian safety, safe stacking, loading, unloading and housekeeping (5S) standards.
• Ensure emergency equipment (exits, fire extinguishers, spill kits, first aid) is accessible and functional.
• Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, safety briefings and support safety committees.
• Coordinate emergency response planning, drills and inspections.
• Monitor waste management, chemical handling and environmental permit compliance.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering or a related field.
• Formal HSE training or OHS certification.
• 2‑3 years of experience in warehouse, logistics, manufacturing or agricultural operations.
• Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, incident investigations and safety audits.
