General Operations Manager – Logistics

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on General Operations Manager to support the leadership of a fast‑growing logistics company in Zambia. Reporting to the General Manager, you will focus on the technical and day‑to‑day execution of fleet and driver operations while contributing to strategic growth.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily logistics operations, ensuring efficient dispatch, maintenance and compliance of a 500‑truck fleet.
• Lead driver and operational teams, providing guidance, discipline and fostering a culture of accountability.
• Monitor vehicle performance, fuel consumption and maintenance schedules, troubleshooting issues to minimise downtime.
• Collaborate with workshop teams to keep vehicles road‑worthy and compliant with safety standards.
• Act as the second‑in‑command to the General Manager, supplying operational insights for strategic decisions and long‑term logistics planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Mechanical Engineering or related field (preferred) with 7‑10 years of logistics or fleet management experience.
• Proven ability to manage large numbers of truck drivers and operational staff in a high‑volume environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of fleet operations, maintenance procedures and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent leadership, communication and problem‑solving skills with a hands‑on approach.
