SHEQ Controller – Transport & Logistics (Zambia)

About the role

Our client is rapidly expanding its transport and logistics operations in Zambia and needs a proactive SHEQ/HSE Controller to design and own health, safety, environmental and quality standards for its fleet and contractors. The role will be built from the ground up, requiring the ability to develop systems and processes rather than merely maintain existing ones.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain live TMS updates, manage driver, client and supplier liaison, and ensure accurate file and data handling per process flow.
• Monitor orders from booking through proof of delivery, including indent tracking and booking management.
• Handle driver and vehicle documentation for ZRA and cross‑border customs clearance, preparing transit paperwork for Kasumbalesa, Chirundu and Kazungula routes.
• Coordinate transport and delivery activities, including dangerous‑goods documentation and on‑time execution of haulier bookings.
• Prepare finance and administration records such as invoicing, costing sheets, creditor and debtor management, and maintain ISO 9001/QMS documentation.
• Produce daily tracking reports for clients and report incidents or service failures within 24 hours.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics; Degree or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field.
• 2–3 years experience in freight forwarding, logistics or transport, preferably with cross‑border trucking on Kasumbalesa, Chirundu or Kazungula routes.
• Strong knowledge of ZRA and COMESA/SADC customs procedures.
• Proven experience using a Transport Management System (TMS) and live tracking platforms, with advanced Excel skills.
