Senior Liaison Officer (Consultant)

About the role

The Senior Liaison Officer (Consultant) will represent senior management at the local level within the Lunga Luswishi Game Management Area (GMA). Based in Lusaka, the role combines office duties with up to 50% fieldwork in Kasempa, focusing on urgent conservation challenges such as encroachment, illegal hunting, fishing, and mining.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the organization on behalf of senior management in addressing conservation and community issues.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with senior DNPW officials and other government representatives.
• Engage with community stakeholders, including traditional leaders, Community Resource Boards (CRBs), and local residents.
• Conduct extensive fieldwork to monitor and mitigate illegal activities within the GMA.
• Provide clear, accurate, and timely reporting on field conditions and stakeholder engagements.
• Collect and analyse data relevant to conservation priorities.
• Facilitate effective communication between management, government, and community partners.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in government or community liaison.
• Demonstrated experience working in rural areas with NGOs or government institutions in Zambia.
• Extensive fieldwork experience, including camping and working in areas with limited connectivity.
• Valid driving licence.
