Accounts Officer

About the role

Wagtech Zambia Ltd is looking for a detail‑oriented Accounts Officer to manage day‑to‑day financial records and support the company’s accounting functions. The role involves maintaining accurate bookkeeping, processing transactions, and preparing financial reports.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting and bookkeeping records.
• Record daily financial transactions and reconcile accounts.
• Prepare invoices, quotations, receipts and payment vouchers.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including monitoring customer payments.
• Process supplier payments and keep supplier records up to date.
• Perform bank and petty‑cash reconciliations.
• Assist with payroll preparation and statutory payments.
• File financial documents and prepare monthly financial reports for management.
• Support external auditors and tax consultants during audits.
• Ensure compliance with ZRA, NAPSA, NHIMA, Smart invoicing and other statutory requirements.
• Assist management with budgeting, financial planning and use accounting software for transaction processing.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and Zambian tax and statutory requirements.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or Pastel.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
