Accounts Payable Accountant

About the role

The Accounts Payable Accountant will manage all payable transactions for the client in Zambia, ensuring timely vendor payments, tax filings, and bank reconciliations. The role requires accurate financial data handling, compliance with local regulations, and collaboration with internal teams and external auditors.

Key responsibilities

• Process vendor payments through bank transfers, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
• Handle mobile money payments and post them in Odoo to the correct budget line items.
• Manage payment requests (VRs, field team requests, PRFs) via SharePoint and email.
• Maintain and reconcile all bank accounts and ensure accurate accounting of transactions.
• Oversee cost lines, accruals, and releases for the entity.
• Coordinate with Accounts Payable Associates to meet month‑end close deadlines.
• Prepare and maintain prepaid expense and fixed‑asset registers.
• Execute month‑end reconciliations for mobile money, accounts payable, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets.
• Liaise with external auditors during audit processes.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and Zambian regulatory standards.
• Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with cross‑functional teams.

Required skills
