Artisan Rigger – Smelter Engineering

About the role

The Artisan Rigger will perform all lifting, transporting and rigging tasks within the Smelter Engineering section of Kansanshi Mining Plc. Working under the supervision of the Rigging Supervisor, the role ensures that rigging activities support plant maintenance and production targets while complying with safety and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and supervise rigging operations to maintain operational integrity of plant equipment.
• Prepare lift plans for critical lifts and coordinate with maintenance teams.
• Inspect and certify lifting equipment, including crawls, gantry cranes, hoists, lifting gear and winches, and report any non‑conformities.
• Interpret mobile crane load charts and select appropriately rated cranes for each lift.
• Secure loads on low‑bed and flat‑bed trucks and conduct tandem lifts when required.
• Enforce compliance with work orders, JSA’s, safe work procedures and environmental management systems.
• Maintain good housekeeping and ensure a safe working environment throughout all tasks.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 certificate.
• Craft Certificate in Rigging and Load Shifting.
• Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia.
• Certification by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
• At least 5 years of relevant experience as an Artisan Rigger in a mining or plant environment.
