Assistant Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Assistant Accountant to join a leading fuel and gas company. The role supports the finance team by handling invoicing, payroll, tax compliance and reporting, ensuring accurate and timely financial records.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare sales invoices for clients using Delivery Certificates and Delivery Tickets.
• Generate monthly cash expenditure reports and budgets for the upcoming month.
• Issue Tally invoices, electronic fiscal documents (EFDs) and manual tax invoices to fuel clients and the Head Office.
• Process monthly payroll using Excel and generate ZSSF contributions via the ZSSF portal.
• Prepare and submit withholding tax payments to suppliers.
• Collect, review and verify supplier invoices before forwarding them for payment settlement.
• Compile and submit monthly sales volume reports to ZAO for concession invoicing.
• File jet fuel and gas sales returns through the ZRA online portal.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
• Proven experience in finance and accounting, preferably in fuel, gas, logistics or a related industry.
• Strong knowledge of invoicing, payroll preparation, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with TRA and ZRA tax compliance requirements and online filing portals.
• Understanding of PAYE, NSSF, ZSSF and withholding tax processes.
• Excellent organizational, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
