Assistant Field Surveyor (TSF)

About the role

First Quantum is seeking an Assistant Field Surveyor to support TSF (Tailings Storage Facility) activities. You will work closely with the lead surveyor, performing field measurements and ensuring survey data quality on construction and mining projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the surveyor with all field surveying activities.
• Carry out routine survey measurements using approved equipment.
• Ensure survey control aligns with project coordinate systems and datums.
• Handle, maintain and store survey equipment properly.
• Set out construction limits, toes, crests, slopes, boundaries and alignments.
• Mark survey points and place pegs, stakes, and reference markers accurately.
• Verify completed lift levels and geometry.
• Collect data for quantity measurements, cut and fill volumes.
• Report unusual movement, safety concerns or discrepancies to the TSF Surveyor.
• Attend construction meetings and progress reviews.

Required profile

• Full grade twelve (12) certificate.
• Certificate or Diploma in surveying, geomatics engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional registration with a recognized engineering body (EIZ/ERB).
• 1 to 3 years’ experience in construction/mining surveying.
• Practical field surveying experience; exposure to TSF, earthworks or mining projects is advantageous.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.
