Communications Volunteer

About the role

The Youth Platform is seeking a proactive Communications Volunteer to help amplify youth voices through compelling storytelling and digital engagement. This role will support the organization’s visibility, advocacy, and program communication across multiple channels.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and publish content for social media, website, newsletters and campaigns.
• Write captions, stories, articles, press notes and event highlights.
• Assist with photography, videography, interviews and documentation during events.
• Create simple graphics, posters, flyers and digital advocacy materials.
• Maintain and update the media library of photos, videos and publications.
• Support the creation of human‑interest stories, success stories and testimonials.
• Track social media engagement and prepare basic performance reports.
• Help with media outreach and communications support for key events and campaigns.

Required profile

• Strong writing, editing and storytelling abilities.
• Creative, confident with social media platforms.
• Basic design experience using tools such as Canva or Adobe.
• Interest in youth development, advocacy, governance, health, gender or community work.
• Self‑motivated, organized and able to work with minimal supervision.
