Country Director, Zambia

About the role

The Country Director leads iDE Zambia as the senior executive responsible for strategic direction, organizational performance, financial sustainability and impact. Reporting to the Senior Regional Director, Africa & Central America, the role shapes and executes the country strategy while representing iDE to donors, government and partners.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic and executive leadership, ensuring alignment with iDE’s global mission and measurable country‑level results.
• Lead business development and resource mobilisation, cultivating diversified funding pipelines and high‑level donor relationships.
• Oversee financial stewardship, budgeting, risk management and compliance to guarantee long‑term sustainability.
• Build and manage a high‑performing senior leadership team, fostering an entrepreneurial and accountable organisational culture.
• Ensure portfolio performance, technical quality and impact across agriculture, WASH, climate resilience and financial inclusion programmes.

Required profile

• Proven senior executive experience leading NGOs or development organisations in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment.
• Demonstrated success in business development, donor cultivation and securing diversified funding.
• Strong financial management skills with a track record of maintaining fiscal health and risk mitigation.
• Exceptional people leadership, capable of building and motivating high‑performing teams.
