Environmental Officer

About the role

The Environmental Officer will manage regulatory compliance and environmental performance for both plant and mining operations. You will coordinate initiatives, monitor effectiveness, and support continuous improvement in line with company policies, industry standards, and international guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations for plant and mines.
• Develop, implement, and monitor environmental management programs, trainings, and controls.
• Conduct periodic inspections, emissions monitoring, and water‑wastewater testing.
• Prepare environmental plans, reports, and annual monitoring compliance documents.
• Assist the HSE Manager in risk identification, incident investigation, and corrective actions.
• Liaise with external agencies and manage contractor environmental performance.
• Oversee waste management, dust suppression, and mine closure activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in environmental functions, preferably in cement or heavy industry.
• Professional certification from NEMC or a recognized HSE body (e.g., Certified Environmental Expert).
• Knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 and familiarity with environmental impact assessments.
