Field Operations & Performance Specialist – Zambia

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, analytical, and resilient Field Operations Specialist to lead and expand our rural field operations. You will act as the key link between field leadership and headquarters, improving performance mainly through the Field Director layer while working closely with Field Officers and Group Leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead field performance through Field Directors, ensuring teams meet targets such as farmer adoption, tree survival, repayment and customer service.
• Oversee field staff processes including onboarding, performance management, disciplinary actions and payroll coordination.
• Develop and continuously improve a consistent Group Leader system across field sites, covering selection, onboarding, coaching and incentives.
• Build capabilities of Field Directors and Officers through structured training, coaching and mentorship, and ensure field realities inform programme decisions.
• Prioritise and execute multiple field priorities, balancing programme performance, people needs, operational risks and organisational deadlines.

Required profile

• 3 to 5+ years leading and growing multi‑layered field teams in agriculture, rural development or social enterprise.
• Proven ability to analyse quantitative operational metrics and translate insights into immediate field action plans.
• Experience operating effectively across expansive, remote regions with limited connectivity and challenging logistics.
• Track record of building or improving systems, training materials or community leadership models from scratch.
• Deep commitment to serving smallholder farmers and living One Acre Fund’s values, with a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
