MEL Lead (Fixed-Term)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) professional to lead day‑to‑day field data collection, statistical analysis and data quality for our climate‑smart agriculture and agroforestry programmes in Zambia. Based in Kabwe, you will manage a 13‑person field implementation team and serve as the primary liaison with our Global MEL team.

Key responsibilities

• Design statistically sound survey instruments and methodologies for rural agricultural interventions.
• Establish and maintain data management workflows, cleaning protocols and automated quality‑assurance checks.
• Audit and continuously improve data collection processes to streamline reporting.
• Analyse survey data using R, Python or equivalent tools, applying regression, multi‑level modelling and difference‑in‑difference techniques.
• Translate analytical findings into actionable recommendations and contribute to the annual impact report.
• Coordinate large‑scale field survey deployments across Central and Southern Provinces, overseeing the full survey lifecycle from scripting to final dataset delivery.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of professional experience in Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning or related fields.
• Proven experience managing field teams and large‑scale survey operations.
• Strong quantitative background with ability to conduct rigorous impact analyses.
• Based in Kabwe, Zambia and able to work onsite.
